A tri-fold leaflet you would assume indicates ‘tri’ or 3 folds, but this is not the case. This type of document only has 2 folds, but it does create 3 panels each side.
The “tri” in tri fold brochure refers to the number of panels, not folds. Your tri fold brochure will have three panels and two folds. A roll fold, sometimes called a letter fold, is the most common style of tri fold brochure.
